Leaving the library at 3am comes with the worst feeling ever, because 1) you got kicked out of the library by a loudspeaker saying “It’s three a.m. IN THE MORNING. Levels B, C, and D are closed. Go home, ya losers”, and 2) the birds are chirping, indicating you’ve actually worked until daybreak and gotten no sleep at all. It’s okay though, because today I left the library at 7am and by then it had been bright for 3 hours, and I had already come to terms with the fact that my life sucks and I should prioritize better.

Why getting into Harvard is no longer an honor

You may have seen that Harvard just set a record for low undergraduate admission rate. Only 5.9 percent of applicants for the class of 2016 were accepted. I was going to do one of my many rants on why we should wake up and see that being admitted to the Ivies and certain other schools is no more a sign of depth and brilliance than winning the Mega Millions lottery.

I was going to point out that Harvard could admit a full class of its rejects that would be just as good as the students it accepted. But I already wrote a book about that, “Harvard Schmarvard.” And yesterday I got an e-mail that says it better than I ever did.

You know it’s bad when your sweetie is gone and you’re procrastinating on work by doing other work. 

Course registration starts bright and early next week (I thought it was tomorrow my b) and my list is so humanities it’s disgusting. (If it’s not an H it’s an S)
